1. How do I get my pet's picture onto the site?
You can upload a picture directly from your computer, or from an URL. Do not send us photos via email asking us to post it for you.
|
2. The system won't take my picture! How do I get it to work?
First, make sure that your picture is under 50k.
If you have disabled your browser from accepting cookies, you need to enable cookies.
If you are submitting an URL, make sure it does not end in ".htm" or ".html".
If your submission ends in one of those two, you are submitting the URL of the webpage that contains the picture, which is different than the URL of the picture itself. The URL of the picture must end in 'gif' or 'jpg'!
In this case, to get the URL of the picture, go to the web page that contains your picture, right click on it, and select 'properties'. The URL of the picture will be listed in the box that pops up. If you run netscape, all you have to do is right click the picture and select "Copy image location" (or something to that effect).
|
3. When I try to submit a picture, I get a "Page not found" or "Server not found" error. What's wrong?
This probably means that your picture is taking too long to upload. Your file might be too big, or if you're submitting an URL, the server your picture is hosted on is slow. You should make your file smaller or find another place to host your picture.
|
4. Why was my picture rejected? It fits the criteria you list!
The moderators decide which pictures are accepted into the
system, not us. The criteria listed are merely guidelines. A common reason
for a normal picture being rejected is that more than one pet in a photo causes voting confusion.
You should also try logging in, HIT REFRESH/RELOAD,
and see if you can still see your picture. Some sites block other sites from showing images hosted on their servers. If this is
the case, you should look for a new place for your picture or upload it to us.
Also, another common cause is that your caption is what got your picture rejected. Make sure it does not contain anything lewd or
any type of contact information (e.g. email address, webpage URL, ICQ, AIM screenname, Messenger, etc.)
If you don't know why your picture was rejected and would like to ask why, click here. If you're convinced your picture should have made it through, you can try resubmitting it.
|
5. My picture was already approved by the moderators, but now it is listed as being under review! Why isn't it approved anymore?
Pictures are sent to be re-reviewed when the server your picture is hosted on has problems. Pictures are also sent to be re-reviewed when you change your picture without resubmitting it to our system.
Just wait for the moderators to take another look.
|
6. Everytime I log in and do anything, the system asks me to log in again! How do I get out of this infinite loop?
It's possible your cookie file may be corrupted somehow. You can reset it by deleting it:
- Close all of your browser windows.
- In your start menu, select the Search/find file function
- Look for "misterbob" within your windows directory (probably c:\windows\). Make sure it searches in subfolders too.
- Delete the file it finds.
- Restart your browser
|
7. Why can't I put my email address or website URL on my picture?
We are trying to protect your privacy. Other unscrupulous users might take your information and
put you onto their SPAM email lists. You
wouldn't want that, would you? Neither would we.
|
8. My friend put his/her pet on the site. Is there any way I can find it without looking through pictures randomly?
Sorry, we have no way to do this right now.
|
9. My username/password don't work. Can you help?
It's possible your original submission didn't go through. If it did, you would have been taken to the member's area.
If you never got to the member's area, make sure your picture is under 50k! If it isn't, fix it (explained above) and then resubmit your picture.
|
10. I lost my username/password. Can you help?
Users who have a verified email address can click on the "Forgot Your Password" link at the bottom of the login box. You should know that the username and
password are case sensitive, so you might want to try typing in ALL CAPS.
|
11. You should know that this picture I found is inappropriate
Click "back" to go back to the offending picture. Look a
few lines under the picture, and click the link that addresses this
situation.
|
12. Can I take my picture off the system?
Yes, once you are logged in, click on the "Remove photo" link under your pet's photo. If the picture does not appear to go away, hit refresh/reload on your browser.
If your pet's picture has been selected for a memorial, the picture will not be removed, only the voting capability will be removed.
|
13. Can I be a moderator?
We do not need any moderators at this time.
|
14. How can I contact you?
If you ask a question that is answered on this page, your email will be promptly deleted. Please read over EVERY question above before contacting us. If your question is not answered in this FAQ, you can reach us at mrbob@misterbob.com. INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME IF YOU HAVE ONE.
|
15. My picture was rejected for being too large. What can I do?
If you are running Windows, load the image into the Paint program. Select the Image menu and then select Stretch/Skew. In that dialog, enter the same percentage for BOTH the horizontal and vertical stretch. Make sure the value is smaller than 100. If you have any other questions, you can reach us at mrbob@misterbob.com.
